Who Will Sit On The Iron Throne? Make Your Predictions

Who will rule them all at the end of the season? HBO

After close to 2 years off the air, rumors and speculation have run rampant on who will ultimately sit on the coveted "Iron Throne" at the conclusion of Game of Thrones. Betting sites the world over are hosting pools to predict the victor, so check out the odds as we tick closer to the finale. We know you have your favorites, but putting emotion aside, do you think any of these characters will wind up the victor? Check out your daily predictions below.

(HBO)

1. Daenerys Targaryen - Mother of Dragons

While the fandom is split between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryan, who are at this very moment united and sailing together to White Harbor, the person who wants the Iron Throne the most is clearly Dany. However, her resources are leveraged to the hilt, the Night King has one of her dragons, and she’s potentially battling the madness that ravaged her father. Could the Mother of Dragons rise up to rule Westeros? Odds are very much in her favor.

(HBO)

2. Jon Snow - The Bastard of Winterfell

Whether you consider him a Stark, a Targaryen, or just the Lord Commander, nearly the whole of the fandom is rooting for Jon Snow. However, the biggest question happens to be … does Jon really want to rule? Always humble and far from ambitious, Jon is a reluctant hero that would arguably be a great leader, but the show has rarely been generous or just, so it is just as likely that someone else will lead Westeros. Odds are strong for Jon, but they can be wrong too.

(HBO)

3. The Night King - Leader of the Army of the Dead

There’s much speculation as to who the Night King was when he was transformed into the fearsome creature he is today. Some say he is one of the First Men, others theorize he was a Lord Commander, still more speculate he’s Bran. Regardless of origin, he is a contender for the Iron Throne and is currently marching south leading an army of undead Wights into battle. He is certainly a figure to be reckoned with and we wouldn’t put it past this show to elevate him to the head of the realm in the end.

(HBO)

4. Tyrion Lannister - Hand of the Queen

Tyrion is arguably one of the most beloved characters in all of Game of Thrones. Rooting for an underdog like him has always been easy and with a murky family history that suggests he could be other than what he seems, fans are excited to see him hold power. He’s exceeded all of our expectations and we know he’s the most politically savvy figure, but does he ultimately deserve to be elevated to the highest position in the land? We like to think so and so do the oddsmakers.

(HBO)

5. Sansa Stark - Lady of Winterfell

Sansa has come an incredibly long way since we met her back in Season 1. Her life has been threatened many times and yet she’s miraculously thriving under the current power dynamic. The rest of Sansa’s siblings arguably lack the ambition to rule and she is still married to Tyrion, could this result in a Lannister/Stark mutual partnership atop the Iron Throne? Or could Sansa rule the Seven Kingdoms entirely on her own? We would love to see her try.

(HBO)

6. Jaime Lannister - Kingslayer

While Jaime’s never had a personal thirst to rule over the Seven Kingdoms, his commitment to Cersei has driven him into war and to betray friends and family. Who’s to say what that bond could result in and if it is to rule over Westeros, would that be a bad thing? His father wanted him to rule. Obviously, it would depend on if there was a Queen sitting next to him atop the Iron Throne. Odds are strong for Jaime, so don’t discount his popularity with the fans.

(HBO)

7. Arya Stark - Princess of Winterfell

Brutality … thy name is Arya. Arya Stark seems as though she is only motivated by revenge and is solely out to cross the names off her list, but would she take up the mantle of ruling the Seven Kingdoms if it came down to her? For a girl only out to save her own, could Arya handle the responsibilities of the realm? We would certainly like to see her try and her odds are good. ODDS 40:1

(HBO)

8. Cersei Lannister - Queen of the Andals and the First of Men

It would be a very dark day if Cersei Lannister wound up on the Iron Throne at the end of the series. Her strength and cunning has never abated, but would the fandom be satisfied with the Queen of Ashes becoming the final ruler of the Seven Kingdoms? The show never shied away from making some hard choices, but would this ending be too bitter? Odds are strong that Cersei will rule. ODDS: 15:1

(HBO)

9. Brienne of Tarth - Lady Brienne

Finally, a Lady Knight makes the list! And let us hope the odds are ever in her favor. Brienne is likely the most loyal character on “Game of Thrones.” She kept her promise to Catelyn Stark and she always serves the greater good. For a figure that was so often diminished for her gender, it would be a welcome sight to see Lady Brienne sit atop the Iron Throne. ODDS: 100:1

(HBO)

10. Bran Stark - The Three-Eyed Raven

While Bran doesn’t seem to be pursuing the Iron Throne, it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to place someone with Greensight at the pinnacle of power. Bran has likely already seen who will rise to the top, would it be the most devious misdirect if he was that figure? After all, a leader who can see conflict and strife coming from a mile away may be the best thing for the realm. ODDS 35:1

(HBO)

11. Sandor Clegane - The Hound

The Hound’s moral compass has drifted all over the map on Game of Thrones, but deep down the fandom is sure that he is a truly honorable character. Uniting with Arya is a reunion everyone is rooting for, but could a scarred and beaten down knight ever rise to the highest seat of power? Or would a Hand of a King or Queen be more fitting? ODDS: 100:1

(HBO)

12. Varys - The Spider

Lying in wait and making chess moves since the beginning, “The Spider” has crept ever closer to power throughout “Game of Thrones.” Varys is a master strategist, so never take for granted that this puppetmaster can rise to rule. Varys isn’t a popular or easy choice, but that doesn’t mean he won’t sit atop the Iron Throne at the very end of the series. ODDS - 75:1

(HBO)

13. Ser Davos Seaworth - The Onion Knight

Worldly, smart, and strategic Ser Davos has quickly risen from minor player in the early seasons, to trusted member of the rebel alliance. With a quick wit and easy nature, he’s both a wartime consigliere and a loyal ally who has seen it all. Fans have quickly grown fond of Ser Davos and it would be poetic to see someone from such humble beginnings rule King’s Landing.

(HBO)

14. Jorah Mormont - Queensguard

While Jorah Mormont may carry a torch for Daenerys that isn’t meant to be, he has been a longtime fan-favorite. His loyalty to Dany often allows viewers to overlook the fact that he is an exiled nobleman and Uncle to the Lady of Bear Island and while his modesty seems to suggest he doesn’t have designs on the Iron Throne, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t rise up to meet the challenge.

(HBO)

15. Theon Greyjoy - Reek

There is probably no character on Game of Thrones that has undergone such radical transformations as Theon Greyjoy. From Stark ward, to Bolton prisoner and from hero to coward, Theon has been through it all. He has one last chance at redemption -- to rescue his sister Yara, but is he up to it? If he is, could this vindication propel him onto the Iron Throne? He’s noble born, but the fandom would be split on this one.

(HBO)

16. Melisandre - The Red Woman

She’s a killer, can raise the dead from their graves, and defies the boundaries of age -- is there a bigger threat to the Iron Throne that the Red Priestess? While she seems modest in her current power plays, she did tell Varys she was meant to die in King’s Landing. Could it be sitting atop the Iron Throne? Her sorcery has done far worse, so don’t underestimate her.

(HBO)

17. Samwell Tarly - Sam the Slayer

Sam has always been a huge asset to Game of Thrones. Loyal, funny, and honest, he possesses all the qualities of a great ruler. Could he rise to the highest seat in the land? He’s carrying information to Jon that will be the game changer for the season, but could an apprentice Maester sit on the Iron Throne? Viewers would almost certainly applaud it.

(HBO)

18. Euron Greyjoy - King of the Iron Islands

Euron Greyjoy, was once a thorn in the side of his niece and nephew, but seemingly a manageable obstacle. However, in Season 7 he really made his presence known. He’s currently vying for Queen Cersei’s hand in marriage, leading the Golden Company and the Iron Fleet into war, and a villain who is as devious as they come. If any character was a wild card as a contender for the Iron Throne, Euron would be it at his odds are very good.

(HBO)

19. Missandei - Daeneyrs’ Trusted Advisor

Smart, loyal, and secretive,, Missandei is a chameleon in any environment and would certainly rule the realm in an inclusive and fair way. She’s seen it all and been by Daenerys’ side almost from the start. She might be unassuming, but Game of Thrones is always full of surprises. Likely to survive based on the protection of those around her, we would love to see Missandei on the throne.

(HBO)

20. Grey Worm - Commander of the Unsullied

What a testament it would be to see a former slave command the Seven Kingdoms. Justice would certainly be served if Grey Worm were to rule. Currently sailing to White Harbor with a fleet of Unsullied to make a final stand against the Night King, could he lead his troops to the ultimate victory and forge a path to the Iron Throne? We would certainly like to see him try.

(HBO)

21. Lyanna Mormont - Lady of Bear Island

Good things come in tiny packages! And that is very much the case when it comes to Lyanna Mormont. She has impressed all of the Northern houses and her leadership has come to the aid of both Jon and Sansa, but can someone who is often overlooked rise to rule? The fandom loves this fierce warrior and she is Jorah’s niece, so don’t discount her mass appeal and wise words.

(HBO)

22. Tormund Giantsbane - Commander of Eastwatch by the Sea

What a world we would live in if a giant “kissed by fire” were to rule. Tormund, ever a fan favorite, and a proud member of the Free Folk is currently atop the wall next to Beric, but will he survive among the Wildlings and against the onslaught of the Night King and his White Walkers? He’s from hardy stock and we would love to see him lead (and return to his “potential” queen), but will he really be someone who could unite the Seven Kingdoms?

(HBO)

23. Gendry - Bastard Son of Robert Baratheon

Gendry winding up on the Iron Throne would absolutely complete the circle for this show and it’s possible he would be a far better ruler than his father. A fan favorite and a wise choice, Gendry would prevent the fandom from having to pick sides between the principal characters, but does it tie things up too nicely? The creators of Game of Thrones have hardly ever made an easy choice, so could the original bastard rule the Seven Kingdoms? Odds are 75:1 so we are ticking closer.

(HBO)

24. Beric Dondarrion - Lord of Blackhaven

The Lightning Lord and Head of House Dondarrion would be a bit of a stretch, but a member of the Brotherhood without Banners on the Iron Throne would be a game changer. Don’t discount Beric’s prowess, however the last time we saw him he was atop the ill-fated wall and sorely without Thoros of Myr, who has resurrected him 6 times. He’s a fierce fighter, but will he survive Viserion’s attack? And would he ever be tempted to rule Westeros? Oddsmakers’ don’t seem to think so, but they’ve been wrong before.

(HBO)

25. Jaqen H’ghar - The Faceless Man

A man is no one and that means that anyone could sit on the Iron Throne. Would this be the ultimate reveal to twist the knife a little deeper into the fandom? Would Westeros ever be sure who ruled if Jaqen H’ghar were to rise to the head of the table? Would viewers ever be satisfied with this conclusion? Vegas odds certainly think so, the Faceless Man is 100:1 in the race.

(HBO)

26. Gregor Clegane - The Mountain

It would indeed be a bleak world if The Mountain were to wind up on the Iron Throne, but don’t discount George R.R. Martin or the showrunners’ affection for keeping the giant around. Currently, he’s the zombie-fied version of the fearsome warrior he once was, but his allegiance to Queen Cersei has never wavered. In a bloody all-out war, he could become the victor, and we shudder to think where that would leave the Seven Kingdoms. Does dragon glass even work on him?

(HBO)

27. Podrick Payne - Squire to Brienne

Loyalty thy name is Podrick Payne! Affable, hilarious and pure of heart, one could easily see how Podrick would rule the Seven Kingdoms judiciously. Squire to both Tyrion and Brienne, he’s a faithful and honest soldier with friends on many sides. It would perhaps be too easy of a choice, but fans would love to see Pod on the Iron Throne.

(HBO)

28. Bronn the Mercenary - Bronn of the Blackwater

Potentially the most beloved mercenary on all of TV, Bronn is a survivor with an affection for many, but ultimately his allegiance is to the highest bidder. Currently, at the end of Season 7 he's still slinging his sword for the Lannisters, but which Lannister will he favor in the end? Regardless, his skills as a swordsmen are rarely matched, so Bronn could definitely be someone to look out for in Season 8.

(HBO)

29. Yara Greyjoy - Queen of the Iron Islands

Is she alive? Is she dead? We still don't know for sure, but Yara's strength should not be disregarded. If she's alive, Euron is likely holding her hostage and at his parley with Theon, Euron said “if you don’t submit to me here, now, I’ll kill her,” which exposed Theon's cowardice as he jumped overboard. Theon knows she deserves the Salt Throne, but does she deserve the Iron one? Does she even want it? As long as Daenerys and their alliance is alive, she will likely support Dany’s claim. Ultimately, they could still be the siblings to beat. ODDS - 100:1

(HBO)

30. Qyburn - Hand of the Queen, former Master of Whisperers

How the hell is Qyburn still alive??? We can hear Cersei bellowing for him in our heads. A new Small Council member, Qyburn is an ex-Maester, thrown out for his unethical and dangerous experiments. Crafty, devious, and has the ear of the Queen, he's a mad doctor of sorts, and is responsible for reanimating The Mountain, leaking the Wildfire that blew up the Sept, and is currently engineering a newly forged weapon to deal with Daenerys' dragons. Enthralled by the Wights, Qyburn is not to be trifled with and could easily be alive at the conclusion of the series ... because life isn't fair.

(HBO)

31. Edmure Tully - Lord of Riverrun

The name Edmure Tully might not ring a lot of bells. The last time we saw him was in Season 6 when Jaime Lannister forced him into helping the Lannsiters take back Riverrun for the Freys. He's Catelyn Stark's younger brother, uncle to the Stark children, and presumably heir to house Tully and having been present at the Red Wedding when marrying Roslin Frey there, he naturally has an axe to grind. Played by The Terror and Outlander's Tobias Menzies, the actor is rumored to be back for Season 8 and is predicted to cast a long shadow over the season.
