The Most Binged Seasons of "American Horror Story"

Witch, please. FX

Do you like witches, warlocks, ghosts, spirits, actual monsters, spooky buildings, aliens, and Sarah Paulson? If you answered YES to any one of those things, then American Horror Story has a season — or two — for you. The long-running FX anthology series has managed to reinvent itself every single season for almost a decade, and now they're about to do it again with American Horror Story: 1984 which highlights the B-list slasher films of the 1980s.

And just like with every other prior season, somehow 1984 will connect back to all the others, whether with shared locations, characters, or the impending apocalypse. Ahead of the Season 9 premiere, here are the most binged seasons to date, and the most popular character from each season. Spoiler alert: There's a whole lot of Evan Peters ahead!

8. American Horror Story: Apocalypse

The first crossover for AHS combines not one but two different seasons, Murder House and Coven. Whoever thought that the students from Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies would have to ban together to literally save the world?

Most popular character: Cordelia Foxx (Sarah Paulson)

7. American Horror Story: Cult

Cult didn't really deal with any sort of supernatural elements, but it was still terrifying as it took a real-world look at some horrors in the world today.

Most popular characters:

6. American Horror Story: Roanoke

What could have been something like a Murder House 2.0 instead completely flipped the script on the season, turning it into a show within a show. Confusing? Maybe a little bit over the top? Yes and yes.

Most popular characters:

5. American Horror Story: Hotel

You never know what you're getting when you check into a hotel, but hopefully, you've never encountered one like the Hotel Cortez. Nothing is what it seems, whether it be the actual building or the people (and ghosts and vampires) living inside of it.

Most popular characters:

4. American Horror Story: Murder House

The season that started it all also set the bar incredibly high for everything yet to come. We're still looking back at everything that happened at the Harmon's house, and just give Billie Dean Howard her own season!

Most popular characters:

3. American Horror Story: Freak Show

The circus is in town, but it's unlike anything you've ever seen underneath the big top. Freak Show introduced us to some of the most interesting characters to ever grace the AHS universe, and gave us some of the most gruesome and unexpected deaths.

Most popular characters:

2. American Horror Story: Asylum

Abandoned buildings are always going to be scary but there's something about Briarcliff Manor that is downright terrifying. The season switches between past and present-day, showing us the trajectory of some former patients in the insane asylum and where they ended up today.

Most popular characters:

1. American Horror Story: Coven

Coven was full of so much juicy drama, memorable quotes, and amazing outfits it's okay if you suddenly wanted to enroll in the New Orleans school, too. Also, the season featured queen, Stevie Nicks! Above all, it's the season full of the most AHS girl power, because these witches can do just about anything — and I mean anything.
