As promised, on Sunday night, HBO revealed the official premiere date for the final season of Game of Thrones during the launch of Season 3 of True Detective. Weeks ago, the network confirmed the show would begin its final run of six lengthy episodes in April, but had yet to unveil the actual date until now. Drum roll, please ... the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will begin on Sunday, April 14th.
While little in the way of actual first look footage followed the announcement in the teaser (above) from the network, we got a preview of HBO's 2019 network reel last week and in it, Sansa meets Daenerys for the first time in a cryptic introduction. We also got glimpses of new season of True Detective, Big Little Lies, Barry, Succession, Divorce, The Deuce, Ballers, Silicon Valley, and the final season of Veep, as well as new series Euphoria, Watchmen, Chernobyl, and Catherine the Great.
Stay tuned for the official trailer that is expected closer to Spring.
