It was a strong week for Netflix with three original series taking our coveted top 3 positions. Thriller miniseries, What/If (No. 1), made a strong entrance after its May 24th debut with a rise ratio of 100% while new seasons of Spike Lee’s, She’s Gotta Have It, and horror series, Slasher, also attracted attention -- landing at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Additionally, Netflix comedy, It’s Bruno!, rose to No. 5 after its recent release on the 17th.
Steaming series continued to dominate with the help of fresh International releases. British sitcom, White Gold (No. 4), gained traction on Netflix as its second window following its premiere on BBC Two, as well as BBC Three’s Fleabag, which climbed into the top 10 after its debut on Prime Video. Meanwhile, HBO’s Chernobyl (No. 7) maintained placement for a third week in a row as dramedy series, Catch-22 (No. 6), and the seventh season of Elementary (No. 9) earned their report debuts.
With anticipated new series (Good Omens and Nos4A2) arriving, as well as returning favorites (Archer and Fear the Walking Dead) on the docket, what will next week look like? All will be revealed next Monday!
DID YOU KNOW? Despite being the No. 4 most-watched BBC Three show in the TV Time app, Fleabag didn’t appear on our “Show on the Rise” report during its original Season 2 launch. This could be in part to the network releasing weekly episodes compared to Prime Video’s entire season drop.
*Methodology: Every week, millions of viewers around the world use TV Time to track their favorite series. “Shows on the Rise” is calculated by determining the week-over-week growth in episodes watched for a given program.
