SHOWS ON THE RISE: Streaming Series And Season Premieres Take Over The Top 10

New miniseries, "Chernobyl," enters at No. 1. HBO

We’re more than halfway into spring and new television is in full bloom! HBO’s latest miniseries, Chernobyl took the No. 1 position after its debut on May 6th; earning a rise ratio of 100%. Despite being the only series premiere, several season premieres gave shows a significant lift this past week. Netflix released new episodes of Brazilian political drama The Mechanism (No. 2), as well as Easy (No. 3) on the 10th, while the streaming platform continued to gain ground with the long-awaited Season 4 release of Lucifer (No. 6). Additionally on the Netflix front, last week’s No. 1 series, Dead to Me (No. 8) is hanging in there and maintained top 10 placement for a second week followed by animated series, Tuca & Bertie, making its report debut at No. 9.

Meanwhile, Prime Video contributed to the big premiere week with the return of crime drama, Sneaky Pete (No. 4) and on the linear front, superhero staple, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (No. 10) returned to ABC for its sixth season.

It’s a huge week for finales with Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory coming to a close, and network fan-favorites such as Riverdale, Arrow, 9-1-1, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine wrapping their respective seasons. Who will ride the wave into the top 10? Next Monday we will tell all!

DID YOU KNOW? Three shows featured on this week’s “Shows on the Rise” Report also made our May Anticipation Report! Chernobyl was the No. 2 most anticipated new series (followed by Good Omens) while Lucifer and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. earned positions on the returning front -- coming in at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
