Assemble the royals! Netflix has dated its royal epic The Crown for the release of its third season on November 17th. The announcement for the show's return was paired with some first look footage of Academy Award winner Olivia Coleman as her royal highness. As fans know, the series will make a significant time jump in the show's third season, moving from a younger Elizabeth to a seasoned dame. Season 3 spans the years 1964-77, which will tackle the swinging ’60s and throughout the ’70s, up to the moment of Margaret Thatcher’s election as prime minister in 1979.
And to add a further wrinkle to new casting, the show is set to premiere on a Sunday night, leading to speculation that the streamer is trying to compete with HBO which has historically held the lead that evening.
