Frontal, hoping to learn the next coordinates for Laplace's Box, reveals his secret plan against the Federation. Banagher and Mineva are horrified by the cruelty and callousness of the future he describes. Meanwhile, a lone Federation patrol ship approaches the Nahel Argama.
