I'm really excited for this! If you like "Vikings" series, this one will be great for you. It will be based on "The Saxon Stories" by Bernard Cornwell. So far 8 books in the saga, the 9th being released two days before the series premiere. I have read the first chapters and it seems really good, now I gotta finish it all. The series will definitely motivate me.

I've read it will be 8 episodes on the first season, 60min each one. Let's hope it's good so we have more seasons. It's BBC, I bet they will kick ass.

PS: Finally we got this series page! The premiere date was getting closer and I couldn't follow the series here. 12th follower!

I don't really know. I haven't read the books yet. I will finish season one, and if I really like what I see... I will read the books while I anxiously wait for the other seasons.

Usually books can be more captivating than the movies. I would not be surprised if this is the case here. Personally, and I understand that I'm the only one, I didn't like this Uthred. Not smart enough compared with Ragnar from the Vikings show. Only muscles and a face well shaved. But I would not be surprised if I read the books one day and find him interesting and start to like him.

April 2016

I agree with you, but let's remember that this is Uhtred on season 1, Ragnar evolved with time, he wasn't that big man on season 1.

By the way, the story set on "Vikings" is based on real History. Of course, vaguely based on real events. But on "The Last Kingdom" I believe it's fictional. Uhtred did not exist, but some of the characters did. I think one of the Vikings of this season is the son of Ragnar. Ubba I guess. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

Does anyone knows if it will be a new season ? If yes, when ?

Netflix será coprodutor da segunda temporada de ‘The Last Kingdom’Serão produzidos dez episódios

Os novos episódios introduzirão o dinamarquês Thure Lindhardt (Bron/Broen, The Borgias), o irlandês Peter McDonald (Thirteen, Moone Boy, No Offence), o escocês Richard Rankin (From Darkness, Thirteen) e Millie Brady e na trama.

December 2016

This series is set some years after the events of the series Vikings and, although not a continuation properly so, some characters who are children in Vikings appear as adults in The Last Kingdom. But this does not seem merely a copy of Vikings and manages to be authentic as it shows the other side of the coin, the point of view of the English.
With a beautiful photograph, well written script and great battles, this series is able to please fans of historical fantasies.

September 2016

May 2017

May 2017

May 2017

I can't say I've heard much about The Last Kingdom before starting it. It's not really a show that was promoted extensively like a GOT or even Spartacus or a show any of my friends here recommended to me. I don't even know how it ended up on my watchlist. But I've been wanting to try it for many months now, until I read a comment that confirmed that I should at least give it a try and Oh boy, that person was right!!!! 😉

I binged watched the 2 entire seasons in 3 days. I couldn't stop watching. The story of Uhtred son of Uthred got more interested by the episode.
It is based on the real Saxons story ( before UK became United, at the time of the Danes invasion) and features both fictional and historical characters.
If you're looking for gratuitous violence, blood and sex ( as in Spartacus or GOT) move along. The Last Kingdom is not about that and I believe the creators and producers ( Downton Abbey) actually made the decision to not make it about that but rather about the story itself which is so compelling. But if you're looking for an epic tale based on true historical facts ( the reign of Alfred the Great and the Birth of England) , full of humour, love, betrayal, honor, destiny, war of religion ( yeah, Christianity is a character by itself) ... Well give the show try. You will not regret it a bit. I guarantee you will fall in love with Uhtred and his companions : Beocca (who played Kester on My Mad Fat Diary) Leoffric, Hild... And as I say, you will laugh a lot. Trust me.

I saw some people comparing The Last Kingdom with The Bastard Executioner, which, in my opinion, does not fit. The stories take place at different times, with political and geographical situations distinct and dynamics is also quite disparate. What's common in this series is the passion, courage and quest for identity of the characters.
The Last Kingdom, in very simplistic way for those who have not read the books, has a background that can be easily understood by those who follow Vikings and is focused on territorial conquests and religious issues that led the unification of the territory of England.

Uh, you're completely wrong, mate. You should learn how to identify two things. First of all, its TBX, not TBE... And TBX and TLK are two different shows about two different wars, and two different conclusions. If you really say that shit you should know enough to identify each other and each history. But if you don't, the only one who loses and make shame of yourself is you, so...

Uhtred is this extremely likable character, the plot is amazing combining fictional and non-fictional characters and the story line is rich enough for some great seasons. So far the cast has been fenomenal and the show has been well produced and directed.

And the emotions brought by every single episode... I can't even handle all the feels, just can't.
