Based on the novel by Margaret Atwood, the series sees a dystopian world that is barren and ruled by Christian fundamentalists under the name Gilead. Fertile women, like the protagonist Offred, are now hunted down and conscribed to be the Handmaidens to powerful men and bare their children.
