This episode was so emotional. I guess since it was Yom Kippur, the overall theme was atonement, but besides Midge coming clean, Joel was all in his feelings about his mistakes, Susie visiting her family talking about how they could’ve done better, and Lord Melbourne, oh wait, Declan 😉😍 and “that painting” referring to everything he gave up for his art. I also took his a little warning or foreboding as Midge goes gung-ho into stand up. It was a beautiful monologue though.

The dinner scene was so epic! Rose wondering how a plumber can be her daughter’s manager... Zelda trying to serve the food... Abe trying too hard to deny knowing about Miriam’s stand-up act and then still not being over his son’s CIA job... but during the middle of the zaniness I loved that Joel defended Miriam and said how great she was.

This scene was some of the best writing I’ve seen, not just in television. Period.

They say "less is more", and this little bit of interaction between Midge and Benjamin was amazing. She's completely herself when she's with him, and it made me like their newfound relationship. I hope it works out

When they stood there and talked about that painting, the one we never see, the emotions over that was just so aching, about the life that was lost. Eyes misting.
