You are very welcome. I like showing people the original series I grew up with.

September 2017

The pilot of the original Star Trek didn't have Kirk as Captain. Most people think he was always the Captain.

October 2017

I don't know about that but it is entertaining!

October 2017

i have to say that i see no parody here. this show became just some weird startrek wannabe. after really great pilot it's getting worse with every new episode. this one almost had not even intended humor.

November 2017

This is a great show. It is funny and serious. I really am surprised and gratified by its existence. Thank you.

December 2017

This show does not have much more humor than Star Trek TOS, it only adaptes to our time's kind of humor. In my opinion, there's not other show that brings thoese old plain adventures, not even TNG was able to achieve that. For me is the best Star Trek TOS "reboot" ever. The Orville takes me back to my childhood's afternoons enjoying Star Trek space adventures.

April 2018

The Orville > Star Trek: TNG
The Orville > Deep Space Nine
The Orville = Star Trek: Voyager
The Orville > Star Trek: Enterprise
The Orville = Star Trek: Discovery
The Orville < Star Trek: TOS

I hope it is a full network season of 24 episodes. 10 episodes of "The Orville" IS NOT ENOUGH!!!!! 😠

September 2017

This series definitely felt like a Star Trek series. If you know Star Trek there was extra laughs for you that non Trek fans wouldn't have gotten. Definitely will keep watching.

Except it’s Star Trek as inhabited by real people.

Yay Adrianne Palicki. 😊 She's always been delightful on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. I'm definitely watching this.

The Orville feels like a vanity project, plain and simple, and while it might be fun for MacFarlane to run around shooting phasers and playing Captain Kirk, it’s not much fun to watch. Because it doesn’t work as comedy. It doesn’t work as sci-fi. It just doesn’t work at all.

I dont agree at all. Good humor and each ep gives us some powerful topic.. Transgender parenting religion race war and so on

chevalierdulys An odd jumble of campiness and sincerity, homage and satire, The Orville never quite achieves liftoff.

October 2017

What's your definition of comedy?

October 2017

This isn't a please the masses type of show, its directed at a specific target audience. That specific target audience f****** loves the show. Its like how not everyone can appreciate Monty Python, you gotta be the right kind of nerd.

November 2017

After watching the first episode I would agree. However, after continued watching i noticed something rather odd, as the show goes on it does a far better job of being funny and actually making thought provoking statements about the human condition. That’s what star trek was all about but sadly destiny fails to see. In the defense of the pilot ep, it had a job to do, set the stage, and it did that.

Jay
November 2017

AbbyRoseCarlson You really comparing a brilliant show like monty python with this?😿😢

November 2017

HenriettaLacks I don't think it was a direct comparison. As it stands, I'm not MP fan but I like Star Trek and The Orville. As a contrast, my brother in law loves MP but hates Star Trek and Doctor Who.

November 2017

HenriettaLacks I'm comparing the narrower audiences of both shows. They aren't necessarily the same audiences, but I find that there's a lot of people who just don't get Monty Python.

November 2017

Love this show great story's and makes me laugh Seth McFarland is awesome as captain Ed Mercer so much so he makes William Shatners captain Kirk look stupid the Orville is an A+++ show and will be on for a long time longer then the original star trek series

November 2017

Plus at least captain Ed Mercer can say more then one syllable every two seconds and plus he is not sleeping his way there the galaxy

November 2017

I totally disagree with you. That is your opinion and it is valid for you. For me, a person who loves Star Trek and all its incarnations (except this latest one, Discovery). I find that what Seth has done with this show resonates with me. Obviously it doesn’t with you. Sorry about that, but I am glad it got picked up for Season Two.

November 2017

What is comedy to you then? The Orville is great, maybe you only watched the first episode, it's gets better and better I really think you should keep watching but if you don't want to that's fine, You are really missing out on some REALLY good comedy

December 2017

McFarland’s brand of comedy doesn’t work for everyone. I find his stuff hilarious, my wife finds it sophomoric. If you love Star Trek and Family Guy, this is mana from heaven.

Jay
December 2017

ReyMeadows Really??? Family Guy compared to this 😪

December 2017

HenriettaLacks your stating your opinion as facts, for the ones who love this show, your wrong. But that is your opinion to have just as it ours to watch every week and count the days when season 2 will be on. So, in my opinion i love this show and will still watch it, even if Henrietta doesn't comprehend its greatness.

December 2017

HenriettaLacks at least you get to hear Seth MacFarlane's voice on the Orville so I guess hearing someone's voice you know makes the show better... Maybe

January 2018

I like this show as I liked Austin Powers as a put on of 007. However, I find that The Orville is more than just a put on of Star Trek, besides the laughs it also has some real intelligence behind it. Personally I don't always like his politics but MacFarlane is a genius. Don't compare Mercer to Kirk, that's like comparing a 1965 Ford Mustang to a 2017 Ford Mustang...it's just a stupid thing to do.

February 2018

I thought it was hilarious!

December 2018

You are wrong! You're entitled to be wrong. You can be wrong as much as you want. It's your right to be wrong. But you're wrong.

September 2017

It's been refreshing to watch a show that is not recreating ST but rather took the concept of a ship going on philosophical tours of the universe, and made it more tongue-in-cheek, not taking itself too seriously but at the same time, approaching conundrums in a way that makes you think. I think the Seth/Brannon Braga duo is working like a well oiled machine. Good job guys! Hope you keep it up!

September 2017

MacFarlane's caustic humor is present all the time, but it's not a slapstick comedy. Not Family Guy in live action set 400 years in the future. And neither is it Star Trek. If you are a fan of either of the two and expect to see your favorite shows repeated, you may be disappointed. The Orville is a very well blended blend of both styles, clearly respecting the boundaries for both. 😊

January 2018

I fully agree. Much better than I thought it would be. I'm just very sad that it was a 10 episode season. Hopefully they will give it a full 23 episode season since it was wildly successful.

December 2018

When The Orville returns for its second season on Dec. 30, it'll be more of the same. Emphasis on more. Not only will Season 2 have more episodes than Season 1 (14 to 12), but the sci-fi series is really pushing what worked in Season 1.
"Season 1 of every show, you're kind of just figuring it out, right?" star Adrianne Palicki told TV Guide. "We were all so happy that it worked so well in the first place. [In Season 2] the journeys are bigger and more intense. This year it genuinely feels like we're making mini-movies per episode, and the quality is a little different."

Because it is not taking a cue from JJ Abrams Star Trek

September 2017

Totally up to my expectations. Loved every minute of it. I got the the nice, comfortable feeling of the 90's Trek series plus good light humour. If you are into the old Star Trek this is for you.

Last man on earth and Gotham still going strong. Also looks like making history is getting a second season

My first thought as well. I've learned not to get too invested in any Fox show, especially not a genre show.
