Ok I totally want Alara back. But I like the new girl. She’s sassy. And she might punch Ed.

Judging people on astrological sign no different than judging on skin color, stupid 🙄

She's starting to grow on me. Still miss Alara though😞. Great episode that mixes tesion and comedy.

See, that makes the most sense to me. First Contact should be made when an active SETI program is detected. It’s sensible because it shows that the society has abandoned the geocentric model, as well as accepted the idea that there could be life beyond their world.

Additionally, “is anyone out there?” is a question that has profound implications for the society asking. Not answering would be basically lying to them, and would itself affect their development. Goodness knows we’d certainly be working on getting out there if we’d gotten an answer to SETI, instead of piddling around in LEO for 50 damn years.

It was also gratifying to see how excited the crew was about making first contact. Another point for The Orville being “Star Trek, but with real people”.

I really love how this show manages to bring up delicate themes such as segregation in this case. I think it is very difficult nowadays to transmit certain messages through television especially a tv show, and every time I am surprised and amazed by how the orville is able deal with them with lightness and sometimes humor. And for this I am grateful.

No wonder Bortus wanted to have a separate birthday party. They only gave Kelly a cake and she didn’t even let him blow out the candles with her. It seemed it WAS all about Kelly.
