Was this a bad episode? No. Even in OTH's worst moments, it's still sincere, heartfelt, and somehow endearing... But the issue is that the writers continue to use the same plot devices over and over... 5 car wrecks in 4 seasons (and counting) and god knows how many comas (cuz I haven't been counting those). A number of different plot devices could be used to get us to where we are now with Lucas getting his heart attack and Haley in the hospital, we don't need cars every time.

With that being said, I love the idea of Keith being a guardian angel of sorts guiding Lucas along and haunting Dan. Even when OTH gets something so so wrong, they still get something so so right. From the outside in, someone could ask why the hell do you watch that show if they use a billion car wrecks to pull the heart strings in the same manner over and over... Because OTH despite its faults is still something special... Accessible, these characters could be your friends. Most shows don't have that. So no matter how many times the writers get lazy and throw the characters in another car wreck or coma, you worry for them.
