BINGE REPORT: “You” Really Love Penn Badgley

Bingers can't get enough of "You." Lifetime/Netflix

It comes as no surprise that You is No. 1 on our Binge Report as we enter 2019. Since the series has moved from Lifetime to its new home at Netflix, bingers are devouring the psychological thriller with a high 6.60% of binge sessions. Fans new and old of the show’s star, Penn Badgley, are also revisiting where it all began with Gossip Girl. The classic CW teen drama (available on Netflix as well) has found placement at No. 5. as a companion piece for You. Additionally, the streaming network continues to be a strong force in 2019 with the release of the final chapter of A Series of Unfortunate Events (No. 2). Meanwhile, History Channel’s, Vikings, earns top placement this week following a mid-season break and news that the series will be canceled after its upcoming sixth season. However, it’s sitcoms that continue to reign as series slowly make their returns in the new year. Friends (No. 3) and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (No. 4) remain ever present while How I Met Your Mother (No. 10) climbs its way back into the top ten.

2019 will bring an abundance of great television. This week alone will see the premiere of The Fosters spin-off Good Trouble, Brooklyn Nine-Nine making its NBC debut, and the return of True Detective! Will these shows break into our top ten? Next Tuesday we will reveal all!

DID YOU KNOW? You was our No. 1 most anticipated show in September 2018 and since its run on Lifetime and subsequent birth on Netflix, the show has netted the highest percentage of binge sessions since last October, when the arrival of Netflix’s Elite hit a high score of 7.34% of binge sessions.

*The weekly Binge Report ranks shows with the most binge sessions. A binge session is when four or more episodes of a show are watched and tracked in our TV Time app within a given day.
