After Sunday's (March 18) episode of The Walking Dead, titled "The Key," a new character was thrown into the mix, played by Criminal Minds and House of Cards alum Jayne Atkinson. The character's name is Georgie, but fans are convinced that the show just introduced Pamela Milton, aka the leader of the Commonwealth, with this new boss lady and her companions, twin sisters Hilda and Midge (played by real-life twin sisters Kim and Misty Ormiston).
In case you aren't familiar with the Walking Dead comic books, Pamela Milton is a character who was introduced in the comics fairly recently. Her first appearance was in the Feb. 7, 2018 issue, "New World Order part 2 of 6." She is a mid- to late-40s woman who is the governor of the Commonwealth, a community of about 50,000 survivors, making it easily the largest community of survivors to be introduced so far.
The Commonwealth's colony is located in Ohio and has become quite the advanced settlement, with a sports arena and a concert venue. The Walking Dead regulars discover it when Michonne, Eugene, Siddiq and a few others come upon Lance Hornsby and his soldiers, who kidnap the group and take them back to the Commonwealth. While there, Siddiq overhears some men talking about a plot to overthrow Milton as the governor, which is as far as the comics have gotten in the most recent issue.
For what it's worth, fans are already campaigning for Jon Hamm to be cast as Lance.
The problem with Georgie actually turning out to Pamela is that that skips over a significant portion of the comics, The Whisperers, a group of survivors known for their brutality and also a penchant for disguising themselves with walker skin in order to blend in with the undead. But one fan seems to think that Fear the Walking Dead season four will be where viewers encounter the Whisperers and then there will be a time jump to the Commonwealth in season nine of The Walking Dead.
Either way, the actress who plays Georgie told The Insider that before she knew much about Georgie, she thought the person she was playing might be Pamela too.
"There's a picture of her, my son showed it to me. She looks a little like I would look on House of Cards, almost presidential or some sort of leadership position," says Atkinson. "But her name isn't Georgie so that could be just a red herring."
Her look could be a red herring—or it could be the name "Georgie" that's the actual red herring. Perhaps when we see Georgie again her real name will be revealed to be Pamela—and Atkinson does think her character will return.
"I do believe we could see her again," says Atkinson. "[Georgie] says it, and I believe her. I haven't been told that, but I think when she says, 'I'll be back' ... They had her say it. That's all I know."
The Walking Dead wraps up its eighth season on Sunday, April 15, when Fear the Walking Dead kicks off its fourth season that same night.
