Anna Winters is a cleaning lady in a NATO agency. She is in her early 50s and is a simple woman. All she wants is to reunite her torn family. She used to live in the GDR, she three years ago she came to the FRG. One day, a Stasi man named Beckmann shows up at her house, who promises that he will take Anna's daughter West if she can get him phone numbers and secret files from Captain Keller's closet. Hoping to finally see her daughter again, Anna accepts the deal, with tragic consequences.
