On the eve of the Peasants' War, the painter Jörg Ratgeb is in search of a figure of Christ, and Jörg cannot find anyone who can fulfill this wish. Surrounded by doubts, he leaves his wife and children in search of the path of his role model, Albrecht Dürer.
