On the top floor of an apartment building, the Engel sisters, two elderly women neglected by fate, do a lot of mischief. Helene and Elvira, who is suppressed by her, stage a ghost to get to the larger apartment below. They tirelessly look for ways to poke the respective residents out - with success, because one tenant after the other is leaving the 'haunted house'. But the angel ladies still can't get to the apartment. Finally, they take in their nephew Klaus to be able to claim that their attic apartment is too small for three.
