In the grip of strange impulses, Charles Beaumont marries as planned to Claire Lapopie. But marriage, and especially the wedding night, is catastrophic. He runs away and, thanks to Professor Charman, after an operation, becomes Charlotte Beaumont. He disappears from circulation and his old friend Gaston finds him a few months later, pin-up in a cabaret where an admirer who has experienced the opposite situation to his suggests that he unite their two destinies.
