New Year 1996. The Balkans are shaken by nationalist wars, after the overthrow of the socialist regimes. Wars result in economic crisis and large migrations of populations. Three women, strangers to each other, coming from different Eastern European countries, meet in a border town in Bulgaria, with the intention of crossing illegally into Greece.
