Evi works as a seasonal waitress in a winter sports resort. In the evenings, when she's on the bar, her older sister takes care of her six-year-old daughter Paula. The freedom that is left to her between a strenuous job and the role of a mother is sparse. But Evi is young and wants to enjoy life. "Always at the limit, always at full throttle" is the motto with which she plunges into pleasure after work. Dancing all night through the shrill village discos and with enough alcohol in her blood, she feels infinitely good, unrestrained and free. Anonymous, fast sex drives away any thoughts of loneliness and emptiness. But Evi pushes the excesses too far, so that even Paula loses confidence in her mother. Evi has to realize that she has lost control of her life. As if driven by an invisible hand, she is heading for a catastrophe.
