When her parents separate and her father moves out, Renko, a bright and energetic sixth-grader, is left alone with her mother, Nazuna. As Nazuna sets out new rules for their life together, Renko -- who is naturally confused yet determined to reclaim her sense of love and security -- makes plans of her own, doing her best to make sure that any more changes happening in her family happen on her own terms.
