Roberto Ventura, a well-known lawyer, unwittingly witnesses a crime that took place in the Turkish bath where he was staying; the two killers, however, become aware of his presence and intend to kill him too to prevent him from going to report the fact to the police. Having managed to escape, Roberto lives in panic because no one believes what he has seen given by the fact that on the scene of the crime where - among other things - there is no longer any trace of murder. This last detail forces the man to hide in different places to avoid being located, thinking that his persecutors have the intention of suppressing him in the worst way. In his wanderings, Roberto finds shelter in the home of Margherita, a former sentimental flame who - between one memory and another - gives the rampant lawyer the determination to face his enemies by removing all sorts of fear.
