Linda M. Purl was born in the US and raised in Japan, becoming the only foreigner to train at the Toho Geino Academy. She is perhaps best known for portraying Charlene Matlock on Matlock, and also for recurring roles on Happy Days, Port Charles, The Office, The Oath, Robin's Hoods, The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital
