Premiering on September 7, 1963, the show featured classic horror films introduced with creepy humor and local charm, becoming a Saturday night staple throughout the '60s, '70s, and into the mid-'80s. Though the original run ended in 1986, occasional specials aired in the late '80s, keeping the spooky spirit alive. In 2011, Carter’s son Mark revived the character for annual Halloween specials and an online version, introducing Sammy Terry to a new generation.
