Because of her anger over her younger sister eloping with a man of no status, Mom Chulee despised Chanok and Chonnanee, her sister's children. Chanok was thus distrustful when Mom Chulee came to ask for Chonnanee's hand in marriage for Haritpan, her adopted son. This leads Chanok to meet Wansika, a maid's daughter who was mistreated by Mom Chulee. Though Chanok initially disliked Wansika's weak demeanor, as they got to know each other, love began to blossom—contrary to the crumbling marriage of Chonnanee.
