Set in Rome during Christmas time in the early 2000s, "An almost perfect father" is the story of Michele Salvi (played by Michele Placido), a supermarket manager and a widow with six children of various age: Tommaso, Caterina, Chiara, Matteo, Adele and Luca. Michele's supermarket is at risk of being closed but it's purchased by a Spanish holding which puts Elena Melli (played by Elena Sofia Ricci), in charge. Michele and Elena later start a relationship, but she's not well accepted by his family.
