Juba is a pure and naive boy, who grew up in contact with the exuberant nature of the Pantanal of Mato Grosso. But a tragedy will lead him to abandon his beloved land and engage in an adventure that will change his life: Fernando, Juba's father, is murdered in an ambush, apparently the result of his involvement in a conflict with squatters, where he took the defense of an endangered indigenous village. Behind all this, in fact, are the interests of the unscrupulous Ramalho Rodrigues, interested in the subsoil of the region, where he detected a formidable diamond mine. Cynically flaunting the public persona of a defender of ethics, he will be behind many of the difficulties faced by Juba throughout the plot, without anyone noticing until the end.
