Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the lives of dozens of TV characters we loved and lost in 2018. From longtime favorites we've loved for multiple seasons (and even series) to newcomers we barely got a chance to know, these deaths hit TV Time users around the world hard.

Orange Is the New Black (Netflix) Season 6, Episode 13 - "Be Free"

What Happened: The imprisoned sisters' long-simmering rivalry came to a head, and while their acolytes didn't fight in an anticipated riot, they ended up killing each other.
This Is Us (NBC) Season 2, Episode 14 - "Super Bowl Sunday"

What Happened: While we knew Jack had died, the long-awaited episode revealed exactly how — from a heart attack due to smoke inhalation during the Pearson family fire.
Lucifer (Fox) Season 3, Episode 23 - "Quintessential Deckerstar"

What Happened: Charlotte jumped in front of Amenadiel to shield him from bullets, and died from the gunfire.

What Happened: Sabrina's spell to bring Tommy back didn't work the way she thought it would, and Harvey ended up having to shoot him.
The Originals (The CW) Season 5, Episode 6 - "What, Will, I, Have, Left"
Character: Hayley Marshall
What Happened: After being kidnapped, Hayley sacrificed herself by walking outside sans daylight ring in order to save her daughter, Hope.
Arrow (The CW) Season 6, Episode 23 - "Life Sentence"
Character: Quentin Lance
What Happened: After jumping in front of a bullet meant for Earth-2 Laurel, he died.
Marvel's Jessica Jones (Netflix) Season 2, Episode 7 - "AKA I Want Your Cray Cray"

What Happened: After discovering Jessica's boyfriend was planning to use her to commit crimes, Jessica's mother, Alisa, killed him.

Gotham (Fox) Season 4, Episode 22 - "A Dark Knight: No Man's Land"

What Happened: Barbara and Bruce stabbed Ra's; Lee stabbed Nygma, who in turn stabbed her; Penguin shot Butch. But they might not all be dead — tune in to Season Five in January to find out for sure!

What Happened: After going on a cross-country murder spree, Andrew Cunanan shot the fashion designer on the front steps of his Miami mansion.
Disenchantment (Netflix) Season 1, Episode 10 - "Dreamland Falls"

What Happened: Though Elfo was shot by arrows and killed, he could return thanks to a hint in the post-credits scene: two mysterious figures picking him up out of the water — and one of them could be a mermaid.
Supernatural (The CW) Season 13, Episode 22 - "Exodus"

What Happened: Michael killed Gabriel with an Archangel blade.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow (The CW) Season 3, Episode 18 - "The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly"
Characters: Rip, Damien, and Mallus
What Happened: Rip sacrificed himself to help the team escape their battle with and inter-dimensional devil, reuniting with his family at last; Damien traveled back in time to the moment Mallus took over Nora, inhabiting him instead, ultimately killing both Damien and Mallus in a final battle with Beebo.
iZombie (The CW) Season 4, Episode 13 - "And He Shall Be a Good Man"

What Happened: After a fight in the Fillmore Graves warehouse Chase was killed on the guillotine.
Dynasty (The CW) Season 2, Episode 1 - "Twenty-Three Skidoo"
